The 3 Best Vehicles for Edmonton Drivers
Forget everything you know about dealerships. At Londonderry CDJR, we strive to be a CDJR dealer in Edmonton that does things differently. We only deal with the very best brands, and at our dealership, you find the most popular models from esteemed manufacturers such as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. To help Edmonton residents searching for a new car, we've selected a few that we feel capture the quality and experiences that we want our customers to have. The first model we've chosen is the Dodge Durango, and the second is the Jeep Wrangler. Lastly, we'll take a closer look at the mighty Ram 1500. All three models provide a glimpse into the vehicles we sell on our lot, and we recommend any of the three to Edmonton drivers. However, not every driver is alike, so we've picked a powerful pickup truck, a versatile SUV, and an off-roading legend.
This year's Wrangler starts at $38,445 and has an impressive thirteen available models.* The Ram 1500 is available at a starting price of $47,445 and is available in eight different trims.* Lastly, the 2022 Durango has six trim levels on the market, with a starting price of $50,795.* In Edmonton, drivers are likely seeking a vehicle that not only cruises in the warm months but can trudge through the cold and snowy ones. At Londonderry CDJR, we have vehicles suited for all of Alberta's seasons.
#1 - Dodge Durango
We'll begin by looking at the 2022 Durango. This year's Durango has plenty to offer drivers, even in its base configuration. The Durango has been a familiar face in Dodge's lineup as far back as the late-1990s. Although its specs have changed a bit over its time on the market, it's remained a family-friendly midsize SUV. The base-level Durango comes with a large selection of luxurious amenities. Inside the base level Durango, drivers will be treated to a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat with built-in 4-way power-lumbar support. Cloth seats come standard, but any trim above the base level swaps these out for leather. Whether you're cruising around Edmonton or taking a road trip down to Calgary, the Dodge Durango is in it for the long haul and will tackle the 300 km with ease.
The Dodge Durango is more feature-packed in its base configuration than many other vehicles on the market. Not only does the base model include the incredibly comfortable seats that we discussed earlier, but the Durango comes standard with a 21 cm infotainment center. The infotainment center is Uconnect 4 technology, which comes with many of the most utilized connectivity features, including Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Opting for the R/T trim or higher replaces this semi-aging technology with a brand new Uconnect 5 infotainment center with a 26 cm touchscreen. Uconnect 5 adds new features, such as an automated updating system that requires no external input from the driver and is reportedly faster and generally more robust than the system it replaces on many accounts.
There are three available powertrains for the 2022 Durango. The first powertrain configuration for the Durango is a 3.6L V6 engine paired with 8-speed automatic transmission, as do the other two. This combo creates 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to the next powertrain, the Durango produces 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque courtesy of its 5.7L V8 engine. Lastly, if you want the most power for your Durango, Edmonton shoppers should consider the available 6.4L V8 for its 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
#2 - Ram 1500
The 2022 Ram 1500 is a capable pickup truck found at a reasonable price. If you're planning on performing towing tasks of any kind in or around Edmonton, you'll want a Ram 1500. As we mentioned, this year's Ram 1500 has a starting price of $47,445, which gets you the base model––the Tradesman.* Trucks such as the Ram 1500 are perfect for transporting cargo because they not only have strong towing potential, but they feature spacious beds too. The 2022 Ram 1500 can be purchased with one of the two-bed sizes: 1.9m or 1.7m.
A pickup truck such as the Ram 1500 is our recommendation to Edmonton drivers who need the utmost performance from their vehicle. This year's Ram 1500 is available with one of four powertrain configurations. The base engine is a 3.6L V6 that creates 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, along with a maximum towing capacity of 3,496 kg. A turbodiesel 3.0L V6 engine is also available for the 2022 Ram for increased fuel efficiency and a striking 480 lb-ft of torque. With the turbodiesel powertrain, you'll have 5,696 kg of towing capacity to work with, and you can expect to save far more on fuel than the 3.6L V6 or the stronger 5.7L V8. Speaking of that 5.7L V8 engine––Ram 1500 models fitted with it will have 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. Expectedly, the V8 engine provides the most towing performance, giving drivers a maximum capacity of 5,783 kg.
#3 - Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is one of Jeep's most popular automobiles, and it's a vehicle that off-roading enthusiasts swear by. This year's Wrangler has a value-oriented starting price and comes with a 3.6L V6 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 3.6L V6 engine creates 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, but the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 is our recommendation. With the turbocharged engine and its automatic transmission, the Wrangler has 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and this powertrain has greater fuel efficiency than its standard counterpart. If you take your rig outside of Edmonton to do some off-roading, you'll want the Wrangler for its standard 4x4 system, available 35-inch all-terrain tires, and exceptional off-roading-focused ground clearance.
Best of all, purchasing a Wrangler doesn't mean you have to do off-roading. The Wrangler is well-suited for many types of drivers, even those who go off-roading either rarely or never. Let's say you're cruising around Edmonton on a summer day––the Wrangler will be both an exciting and feature-packed ride, even on the main road. A Uconnect 4 infotainment center is available for the Wrangler, along with its 21 cm touchscreen and features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That's not all the tech inside of the Wrangler, however. Wrangler models are also available with an 18 cm information display situated on the dashboard. For off-roading, having an always-visible display that gives you important information on your vehicle's health is a quality-of-life improvement that you won't want to drive without after you've experienced it.
What wraps the package together nicely is the available Alpine audio system, which is available because off-roading, or driving in general, is more exciting with your favourite music. The available sound system includes nine speakers and a subwoofer with 552 W of power. Best of all, this sound system will come standard on several trim levels, so it'll further sweeten the deal on an already excellent automobile. If the Wrangler interests you, or any other vehicle we've mentioned, such as the Ram 1500, or the Dodge Durango, then take a trip over to Londonderry CDJR today.
